Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to renovate an apartment in Belgrade in 2026?
A Standard renovation of a 65 m² apartment in Belgrade costs around €22,000–28,000, Premium €33,000–43,000, and Luxury €55,000–72,000. Pricing includes materials and labor. Actual cost depends on installation conditions, number of bathrooms, and finish quality. Our calculator provides an itemized estimate covering demolition, electrical, plumbing, tiling, flooring, kitchen, sanitary, and finishing.
What is included in the estimate?
The estimate covers every major work group: prep and demolition, structural rough work (walls, plaster, screed), electrical (rough-in and finish), plumbing and HVAC, tiling (labor and material), painting, flooring, doors and windows, sanitary fixtures, custom kitchen with built-in appliances, and finishing. Prices are indicative based on average Belgrade contractor rates in May 2026.
How long does an apartment renovation take?
A studio (up to 35 m²) needs 6–10 weeks, a two-room apartment (60–70 m²) takes 10–14 weeks, and a three-room (80–100 m²) requires 14–18 weeks. This assumes a complete renovation with installation replacement. Premium and Luxury tiers typically run 20–30% longer due to more complex materials and finishes. Some trades can work in parallel — electrician and plumber in different rooms.
Is a building permit required for renovation?
Under Article 145 of the Serbian Law on Planning and Construction, no permit is required for works that do not change the apartment's footprint, structure, or use. This includes replacing finishes, installations, kitchens, and bathrooms. A permit IS required for removing load-bearing walls, changing windows, or combining apartments. We prepare all paperwork when needed.
Are the prices in the calculator editable?
Yes. Every price in the table below is clickable and editable. If your tile setter charges differently, or you have a specific contractor quote, type that number in — the total updates immediately. You can also fully disable items (e.g. if you're not replacing doors and windows) by clicking the × button next to the row.
What's the difference between Standard, Premium and Luxury?
Standard uses mid-range materials (laminate €22/m², ceramic €25/m², standard plumbing fixtures and bathroom hardware). Premium uses good brands (parquet €48/m², designer tile €40/m², Geberit concealed systems, Hansgrohe faucets). Luxury implies exclusive materials (natural stone, €95+/m² parquet, premium kitchen appliances, designer lighting) and runs approximately 2.6× the Standard cost.
What is the renovation timeline feature?
The timeline is an interactive Gantt chart auto-generated from your inputs (area, bathrooms, quality tier). It shows all 11 renovation phases on a time axis with concrete start and end dates. Each phase duration is calculated from area and quality level — Premium and Luxury timelines run 20–30% longer due to more complex materials.
Can I customize the Gantt chart dates?
Yes. Drag any phase bar left or right to shift its start date, or grab the left/right edge and stretch to change duration. A tooltip shows the new dates in real time. The "Reset" button restores all phases to the auto-suggested plan based on your current calculator parameters.
Can I save the timeline as PDF?
Yes. Click the "PDF" button in the Gantt header — an A4 landscape PDF downloads with all phases, dates, durations, and a visual bar layout. You can share the PDF with contractors, project managers, or any other project stakeholders. The calculator estimate and Gantt timeline are two separate documents — both can be downloaded.
